LEST WE FORGET is an innovative archival initiative that explores Emirati vernacular tangible and intangible culture through memory, reflection, research and creative expression. Lest We Forget pursues educational and artistic endeavors—archiving, research, exhibitions, publications, art making, film and animation production, audio recordings and product design—all generated through active collaboration and robust programs with the community.
These integral endeavors consider how and why essential indigenous traditions continue to be relevant to contemporary Emirati culture and identity. The creative enterprise comprises: a digital archive for documenting oral histories and authentic artifacts, a creative lab for scholarly and creative work based on the archive, and an exhibition space and website for sharing the findings of both the archive and creative lab with the local and international community.
Under Creative Director Dr. Michele Bambling, the dynamic initiative is sponsored by the Salama bint Hamdan Al Nahyan Foundation and based at Warehouse 421 and Twofour54 in Abu Dhabi, the United Arab Emirates.
